In June of 2018, Tony started recording snippets of ragtime songs after being gifted a book of "100 Authentic Rags" from his father's friend and ragtime pianist, Jim "Whitey" Minette. He'd schlep his wooden bass drum and high hat next door to Club Helsinki, an iconic and eclectic restaurant and night club, where they'd let him practice on a blonde out of tune Steinway piano in the ballroom upstairs. Tony set up his iPhone on a mic stand and practiced until he got about a good minute of a rag down and then post them to his Instagram and Facebook pages. Along with the authentic rags, Tony also began to re-arrange classic songs in a ragtime/ Harlem stride feel. Given the brevity of the rags (they're only parts of the song), Google "#MinuteRags" to watch more videos.
